Sweat bee (Halictidae: Lasioglossum sp.) on goldenrod in Wisconsin.
Black ant (Crematogaster sp.) from Monteverde, Costa Rica.
A Field Ant (Formicidae: Formica subsericea, from Iowa) returns to the hive from a successful foraging mission with a leafhopper nymph (family Cicadellidae). Unfortunately for the hopper, in moments it will be taken down into a dark tunnel and methodically torn into shreds to feed the expanding ant brood.
