    This lovely ant from Panama (Ectatomma sp.) has a unique gnarled appearance, as if carved from wood.
    An orchid bee, Euglossa sp., hovers over a drop of eucalyptus oil used as "bait" in Panama. Males of this genus have specially equipped legs that they use to sequester volatile compounds from flowers they visit. They store this fragrance until mating, when they release it to attract females.
