Leaf-mimicking katydid nymph (Tettigoniidae: Phaneropterinae) from Monteverde, Costa Rica. The wing buds indicate this individual is likely one molt away from adulthood. Most of the phanteropterine katydids I saw from the CR trip were a deep forest green, but this one had a delightful bluish tint.
Lichen-esque katydid (Tettigoniidae) from Monteverde, Costa Rica.
Lubber grasshopper (Romaleinae: Xyleus sp.) from Panama. The distinctive crest reminds me of an ancient Greek or Roman helmet.
